Insiders seem to have been correct in their assertions that the Watch Dogs series is no longer active. During a recent meeting with investors, Ubisoft failed to acknowledge the series as a significant one.
According to Eurogamer, the company plans to prioritize the development of service games in the open world, while also investing in AI development. Ubisoft specifically highlighted the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, The Division, Ghost Recon, and Star Wars series in this context. Surprisingly, the Watch Dogs franchise was completely overlooked, not receiving any mention during the conference. It is highly probable that the series was temporarily halted following the unsuccessful launch of Legion.
Remember that Ubisoft recently made the decision to cancel the free shooter The Division Heartland.
