First glimpses of Liam Hemsworth’s Geralt of Rivia, who takes over for Henry Cavill after three seasons in The Witcher, have been provided by leaked images from the set of the fourth season of the show.
A few leaked pictures seem to show Hemsworth decked out in full Witcher regalia, complete with white wig, according to Metro, the website hosting the pictures. Remarkably, the images depict a replication of a moment from Season 3 where, spoilers alert, Geralt battles Vilgefortz on a beach.
This is probably being done for flashback purposes because it would be strange if Netflix recapped moments from Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt during Hemsworth’s tenure. As a result, it’s feasible that Netflix will have to reshoot older sequences from all three of The Witcher’s seasons.

Netflix made the announcement in November 2022 that The Witcher would be moving forward without its main actor, as Cavill decided to step away from the show after three seasons. The actor has not provided a specific explanation for his departure, but back in November 2021, he expressed unwavering dedication to a seven-season journey on The Witcher, emphasizing the importance of telling captivating stories that pay homage to Sapkowski’s work.
Co-star Freya Allan, who portrays Geralt’s adopted daughter Ciri in the show, expressed sympathy for Hemsworth as he navigates through a less than ideal circumstance. She encourages fans to give him a fair opportunity.
The Witcher has received mixed critical reception thus far. IGN gave Season 1 a 6/10, Season 2 a 7/10, and Season 3 a 7/10 and 5/10 in our reviews, showcasing the varying opinions on the show. “The Witcher concludes its most challenging season yet with Henry Cavill once again getting lost in the convoluted and plot-heavy narrative,” we commented on the latest episodes.
Showrunner Lauren Hissrich expressed that even after Cavill’s departure, the show could have concluded or continued without Geralt. However, Netflix was adamant about not letting go because they believed there were still numerous untold stories to explore.
