According to the creators of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, the Xbox Series S’s technical limitations limited the game’s size. Consequently, the expanded portion of the game will only be 25% bigger than the original.

The Czech website Zing.cz reports that game creator Martin Klima acknowledged at the Game Access event that Kingdom Come Deliverance 2’s scope was impacted by the Xbox Series S’s technical restrictions, specifically its 10 GB of RAM. Warhorse Studios made the decision to only expand the game’s size by 25% because the weakest console of the current generation only has 25% more RAM.

The game would run in 4K resolution and 30 frames per second on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, it was announced at the same occasion. It is unclear, though, if this would be upscaling or pure 4K resolution—upscaling is most likely the case.

The game will operate at 30 frames per second and 1440p on the Xbox Series S. As would be expected for an open-world game, the lack of different display modes suggests that the game will be processor-intensive.

Although some gamers might be disappointed by Kingdom Come: Deliverance II running at only 30 frames per second on consoles, it’s important to note that stability in performance should be maintained. The first game in the series lacked smoothness on consoles, but this one is operating at above 30 frames per second, which is a big improvement. With very high graphics settings, NVIDIA DLSS technology on PCs may reach up to 80 frames per second in 4K resolution (with an AMD Ryzen 7950X3D processor and RTX 4080 Super graphics).

This year, the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series will get the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.
