Developers from Nightdive Studios have made the decision to not release the System Shock remake on Linux and macOS, despite previous intentions to do so. The game’s Kickstarter page provided a report on this. The team did not provide any explanation for the cancellation.
However, Linux users have no reason to be too upset. Users have reported that the System Shock Remake performs exceptionally well with Proton, whether on the Steam Deck or in desktop format.
Nightdive Studios is offering backers the opportunity to choose the platform for playing System Shock Remake. If the user is limited to macOS or Linux and requires a refund, they can contact hello@nightdivestudios.com for assistance.
In the latest update, Nightdive Studios mentioned that the development of System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition is going smoothly, but unfortunately, the team doesn’t have any updates to share at the moment.
System Shock Remake , meanwhile, is available on PC and consoles of both generations.
