Once more, fans and modders are taking on tasks that Nintendo does not. This time, a brand-new tool is available that makes it simple and quick for anyone to make their own Super Mario 64 levels and share them with others via the internet.

With the release of Super Mario Maker in 2015 and its 2019 Switch successor, users were able to create and share 2D Mario levels with great popularity. But ever since Mario Maker 2 came out, a lot of people have been waiting for Nintendo to create and release Super Mario Maker 3D, the game’s 3D version. However, it appears that won’t occur very soon. Fortunately for aficionados, the Super Mario 64 hack transforms the beloved platformer into Super Mario 64 Maker, so don’t worry.

Mario Builder 64 is a new mod for the original Super Mario 64 that allows you to make your own levels with basic tools. It was released on May 19 by modder Rovertronic.

Although installing the mod is not that simple, there is a comprehensive tutorial that will take you step-by-step through the process. To play the levels, you’ll also need your own SM64 rom and an emulator. In order to keep Nintendo out of legal hot water, Mario Builder 64 does not include the original game.

Mario Builder 64 is remarkably well-made and intuitive after everything is set up. Additionally, Mario Builder 64 adds fresh content that was absent from the original N64 game, enabling you to make creations that were not feasible in the beloved platformer.
