Blizzard has confirmed that it is working on "story difficulty" for raids in World of Warcraft: The War Within for 1-5 players

The narrative of World of Warcraft has always had issues, chief among them being the necessity of engaging in raids in order to finish the expansion’s plot. Although this was typical of earlier expansions, things have changed.

Solo player dungeons were introduced in Dragonflight, which was a significant advancement. Now, a similar update will be sent to raids as well. With the addition of a “story” difficulty, Nerub’ar Palace will let players take part in raids alone or in groups of up to five.

Developer Limestone verified this information on the World of Warcraft forums:

We’re working on a new raid experience for The War Within called Story Difficulty. The goal is to offer players a way to see the end of Azj-Kahet’s story without the help of other players or followers.

This feature will not be available at launch of The War Within, but will appear later
