The developers of Dauntless and Fae Farm have made layoffs and canceled third-party projects

Studio Phoenix Labs, renowned for their hit games Dauntless and Fae Farm, has unfortunately announced a significant number of layoffs. Over 100 employees have departed from the company. In light of this situation, the studio made the decision to halt all third-party projects and instead prioritize their efforts on providing support for Dauntless and Fae Farm.

Polygon’s sources indicate that a game from Phoenix Labs, which was ultimately canceled, was on the verge of being released to the public. The portal mentioned that they bid farewell to the company’s employees through a professional Zoom call.

This restructuring has been quite challenging for us, but it represents the crucial final step in securing the long-term survival and success of Phoenix Labs. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and expertise that every skilled individual brings to each project at our studio.

Phoenix Labs is once again going through another round of layoffs, marking the third time in just one year. The first occurrence happened in May of last year, where a significant 9% of employees were unfortunately let go. In December, they made the next round of cuts, bidding farewell to 34 employees.

In February 2023, the company successfully gained its independence from its parent company, Garena.
