Online screenshots of Valve’s latest game, a multiplayer shooter with MOBA elements, have started surfacing. The project was originally called Neon Prime, but it was later changed to Deadlock.
The pictures were shared by Gabe Follower, an insider in the industry, and Pavel Djundik, the creator of SteamDB. You’ll find a variety of heroes, each with their own unique abilities, inventory, and a map that covers all four directions.
Deadlock is a game that combines elements from popular titles such as Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, Valorant, Smite, and Orcs Must Die. The hero designs draw heavy inspiration from Dota, while the map bears a striking resemblance to City 17 from Half-Life 2. The game originally included science fiction elements, but Valve decided to change direction to fantasy and steampunk after receiving negative feedback.
Valve has remained tight-lipped about the existence of its new game. Given that closed testing is currently underway, it’s possible that the announcement will be made in the near future.
