Paramount has abandoned the live action series Dungeons & Dragons

Deadline reports that Paramount+ has declined to release a live-action series centered around the popular Dungeons & Dragons franchise. Streaming abruptly canceled the project, despite initially approving it in January 2023 and commissioning eight episodes.

The series is still going strong—Hasbro Entertainment is committed to further development. The show is set to undergo a significant “creative overhaul” before being sold to another company or streaming platform.

The original live action version of the Dungeons & Dragons series was brought to life by Rawson Marshall Thurber, known for his work on films like A Spy and a Half, Red Notice, and We Are the Millers. He wrote the pilot script and was poised to direct the first episode with expertise.

A fresh creative team has been enlisted by Hasbro Entertainment to take charge of the Dungeons & Dragons series, with Rawson Marshall Thurber stepping aside.
