Overwatch 2 will lose one of the few PvE modes

The Hero Mastery Gauntlet PvE mode will be removed from Overwatch 2 due to player feedback indicating that it lacked excitement. Gamers will have ample time to complete the mode’s challenges before the start of Season 11 in June, ensuring they can tackle them with expertise.

In Hero Mastery Gauntlet, players had the opportunity to defend points in groups from waves of enemies. However, this particular content failed to gain much popularity among players. Since its introduction in March until now, the mode has failed to gain popularity, leading Blizzard to make the decision to remove it. The developers made an official announcement on the forum.

Unfortunately, it [the mode] did not resonate with players as much as we had hoped. We have decided to discontinue Hero Mastery Gauntlet and it will no longer be available to play as of Season 11.

The standalone single-player mode “Hero Mastery” will also continue to be a part of the game and will receive regular updates with fresh content.

It’s worth noting that back in March, Kotaku released an article featuring insights from former Overwatch 2 developers. They discussed the factors that led Blizzard to forgo a comprehensive PvE experience in the game. And recently, employees from the game team experienced a loss in their bonuses.
