Amazon has abandoned the series about the superheroine Silk in the Spider-Man universe

Four years ago, Sony Pictures Television announced the launch of a series featuring the superheroine Silk, a beloved character from the Spider-Man universe. In 2022, Amazon Prime Video acquired the project.

According to a report by Variety on May 16, the streaming service decided to cancel the series. Angela Kang, an experienced writer and showrunner of AMC’s The Walking Dead, has been involved with the project. Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Amy Pascal were set to produce.

According to insiders, Variety reports that Sony Pictures is actively seeking to offload the Silk series to another company or streaming service.

The publication noted that Amazon took a hands-on approach to the script development before ultimately dropping the Silk series. As an illustration, the company bosses aimed to shift the focus of the show towards a male audience, particularly inspired by the achievements of The Boys and Reacher.

Silk made her debut in Marvel comics in 2014. Cindy Moon, the American-Korean character, gained similar abilities to Peter Parker after being bitten by a radioactive spider.
