At the beginning of StarRupture, you won’t have to worry much about health or survival mechanics. The game gently introduces the basics of base building and completing objectives. However, over time, you’ll begin to venture further from your shelter and encounter more dangerous enemies. This is when all available consumables will come in handy, and to craft them, you’ll need to gather local plants. Glowcaps are one of the key resources. But unlike many others, they can only be obtained for a very short period of time and in one specific location. Here’s everything you need to know about finding Glowcaps in StarRupture.
Firefly mushrooms can only be found in underground caves. These caves can only be accessed immediately after a heat wave that wipes out virtually all signs of life on the planet’s surface.
The thing is that the entrances are usually covered with vines, as shown in the screenshot below.
All underground caves you discover will be marked on the map with a “?” icon or a circle with a crack in the middle.
These vines are indestructible with weapons. They disappear only briefly after a heat wave, when the planet has yet to recover and the land remains gray and ashen.
Once this happens, head down into the cave. Press T to turn on your flashlight and see better in the dark. Look for glowing green mushroom spawn on the walls—these are Firefly Mushrooms. Typically, you can find three to four of these mushrooms in each cave.
Firefly mushrooms are used to create resistance plasmas that protect against Corrosion, Exhaustion, Infection, and Heat. Each recipe requires three mushrooms. Consuming this plasma grants +40 Toxicity, but in exchange, doubles your resistance to the selected element for 10 minutes.
This time is usually more than enough to do everything necessary in the danger zone and leave before the negative effects seriously affect health or lead to death.
