Most unique items in Path of Exile 2 are designed to speed up the leveling process. Rare items typically play a key role in the mid-campaign and into the endgame, but some unique items remain effective until players begin exploring the Atlas maps. In this guide, we’ll cover our favorite unique items for leveling new characters in Path of Exile 2, including those that remain useful until the endgame.
Unique armor pieces generally have greater durability during the PoE 2 campaign. Some offer incredible benefits for specific classes and playstyles, while others are simply good overall.
This unique chest armor is ideal for minion builds or any other builds that consume a large amount of Spirit. Its main advantage is the massive Spirit bonus, allowing you to summon entire armies or use multiple Herald skills simultaneously. However, it disables the innate effect of the Intelligence stat: with Dawn’s Embrace equipped, you will not receive a bonus to mana per point of Intelligence.
Titanium Rot is designed for players who want to build strength-based characters in PoE 2. It provides a massive armor boost, allowing you to ignore physical attacks. If you find other items that extend the armor’s effect to elemental damage, you’ll easily withstand most attacks. The downside of this armor is that it reduces your Intelligence and Dexterity by 10% and also blocks passive health regeneration.
Winter’s Grasp is a unique gauntlet ideal for cold-based offensive skills like Frost Strike or Lunar Assault. It helps freeze enemies faster and adds bonus cold damage to your attacks, making it a great choice for any non-spell-based build. However, when using it, be careful with your defense: despite providing up to 30% cold resistance, Winter’s Grasp only provides a negligible amount of evasion.
The Wings of Kaylin offer a balance between offense and defense. Not only do they grant 1 Fury per melee hit, but they also increase your stun threshold , preventing you from being stunned by crowds of enemies. Each point of Fury increases the damage of your attacks, making this helmet an excellent choice if your character has no other means of generating Fury. Fortunately, the Wings of Kaylin have no negative effects, other than low base armor.
Simply equipping Radiant Sorrow sets all enemies near you on fire. The igniting effect itself is quite good, but the key here is the potential synergy with effects that require enemies to be set on fire, such as the effect from the Black Flame fire quiver .
The Steel of Passion has one goal: to make you faster.
Swiftness is a buff that grants 20% skill speed and 10% movement speed. It typically lasts for 4 seconds, but Steel of Passion grants it permanently. This helmet won’t provide much protection, but this drawback can always be compensated for with other means.
As mentioned, most unique weapons are outclassed by well-rolled Rare items quite early on. However, some are good enough to carry players through Act 4 or even the early stages of Atlas maps. Others have special skill synergies, making them useful until the endgame.
The Raptor’s Charge is a crossbow capable of providing players with virtually unlimited ammo. Its damage falls off very quickly, but it allows for a special interaction with the “Cleaved” debuff from the “High Velocity Rounds” skill .
The “Cleaved” debuff causes enemies to take 5% of the damage dealt by “High Velocity Rounds” each time they are hit by an attack. With “Raptor’s Charge,” players can unleash a barrage of crossbow skills, such as “Galvanic Shards” and “High Explosive Rounds,” on enemies. This causes enemies to take incredibly high damage in a very short time thanks to the “Cleaved” effect. This interaction allows players to defeat even endgame bosses using Raptor’s Charge at level 1.
The Shiaba of the Temple is a two-handed mace that solves one of the main problems of this weapon class: slow attack speed. This weapon makes leveling up a Warrior (or any other two-handed mace build) significantly faster and smoother, especially for those using Crushing Blow or the basic mace skill.
However, the Shiaba Temple does have its drawbacks: it has a higher Dexterity requirement than most two-handed maces, and it can only be used from level 28, so plan your gear accordingly.
While Wavebreaker significantly increases your Chill value, its true value as a level 45 weapon lies in its excellent stats. It outperforms most other two-handed maces in its level range and can comfortably carry players from Act 3 all the way up to Atlas maps around level 3-5 when used in the right build.
Despite being a simple bow with 6-9 damage, Widow’s Vengeance is a surprisingly strong option until late Act 2, provided you use it with a good quiver. It pairs well with items like Asphyxiation’s Wrath or Deadly Shot , but don’t expect its usefulness to last very long.
In most cases, the Death’s Harp replaces the Widow’s Vengeance during leveling for Rangers and other bow users. The additional three arrows significantly increase your offensive capabilities, especially when used with good quivers. Pair this bow with a skill like Gas Arrow and revel in the explosions it can cause.
Pillar of the Imprisoned God deals negligible damage by default, but becomes very powerful once you start building up the three main stats.
This weapon gains the following bonuses for every 10 attribute points:
Use this staff in conjunction with any other equipment that increases your stats, as well as runes that provide bonus damage, and you will be ready for any challenge.
If you’re playing a lightning-based caster, Grounded Voltaic is likely the best weapon to level up. As long as you consistently kill electrocuted enemies, you’ll fill the screen with sparks, which will continue to electrocute and kill enemies, creating even more sparks. However, this interaction will drain your mana quite significantly, so consider using something like Eternal Gaze to compensate.
