Equipment and design

The MCHOSE X9 comes in a black cardboard box with the model name printed in large print and its key feature – 7.1 surround sound.

Inside, the owner will find the headset , replacement ear pads, a 2.4 GHz dongle (a composite one with USB-C and USB-A plugs), a USB-A to USB-C cable, a detachable microphone, and a user manual. The package contents are quite impressive for headphones costing 5,000 rubles—at the very least, replacement ear pads are rare in this price range.

The new model is available in three colors: matte black, mirror, and light pink; we’re reviewing the first version. It features a classic design with large oval earcups that attach to Y-shaped arms that flow into a chunky headband.

The outer side of each earcup is decorated with a mirrored insert, centered on the brand’s logo, which illuminates when the headphones are turned on. The brand name is printed on the outer part of the headband, and the interior is covered in eco-leather with a soft foam lining.

The fit of the headphones is adjustable thanks to retractable temples that lock into nine positions, so the model easily adapts to any head size.

The included MCHOSE X9 earpads are made of faux leather and filled with memory foam. The replacement earpads are made of fabric: while they don’t provide as much sound insulation, they are softer and more breathable, which you’ll certainly appreciate in hot summer

The headset’s controls are located on the left earcup. Here you’ll find a microphone mute button, a multi-function key (which controls music playback, switches connection modes, and adjusts sound effects), a volume wheel, a USB-C port for wired connection and charging, an LED indicator, a power/ backlight button , and a microphone jack. The latter is attached to a flexible boom and is equipped with a pop filter.

The headset is quite lightweight and comfortable. The fit is comfortable, the position on your head is easily adjusted, the earpads are soft, and the earcups don’t press on your ears or temples.

Connection and setup

The new device supports three connection options: wired USB, wireless Bluetooth, and 2.4 GHz. You can switch between them by double-clicking the multifunction key.

To set up the headset, you need to download the M HUB Driver app . The software contains several tabs:

Sound Configuration – This category focuses on headphone sound settings and microphone voice capture quality. Here you can boost high frequencies for clearer audio, enable intelligent bass adjustments, enhance your voice, activate AI microphone noise reduction, and change your voice in real time ( monster , cartoon, male, or female).

The equalizer contains several presets specifically tuned for popular online shooters . You can also download custom presets and create your own. The “Sound Mode” tab lets you choose from three presets: one for competitive shooters (emphasizing gunshots and footsteps), one for military shooters (emphasizing gunshots and explosions), and a music mode. A virtual 7.1 surround sound option is also available, perfect for watching movies and playing games.

Lighting settings – here you can customize the headphone backlight : choose one of four glow modes, set the color and speed, or turn off the backlight effect.

Other settings – on this tab, you can update the firmware of the headphones and dongle, as well as reset the model to factory settings.

Although the model is ready to use out of the box, it is still advisable to install the app to fully unlock its potential and fine-tune some of the sound nuances.

Impressions of use

The MCHOSE X9 greets its owner with Chinese voiceovers. This can’t be changed or disabled, so you’ll have to put up with a language barrier. However, much of the gameplay is self-explanatory, so it’s not particularly intrusive.

The developers have optimized the headset’s sound for popular online shooters. PUBG, CS2, VALORANT , Cross Fire, Delta Force, Apex Legends —each of these titles has its own unique equalizer preset. There are also a number of presets for various music genres . Additionally, sound modes and virtual 7.1 surround sound are available. In short, the headset allows you to customize the sound to your individual preferences and adapt it to a wide variety of scenarios—but especially online shooters.

These presets turned out to be truly effective. Firstly, they provide precise sound positioning: you can easily tell where an enemy is—to the side or behind, above or below, far or close. The sounds of gunshots and footsteps don’t blend into a monotonous mess; you can accurately navigate the action and read the situation with your eyes closed.

The model uses 53mm aluminum-coated polymer drivers, delivering powerful sound with a well-balanced frequency range. It features a very respectable bass, complemented by detailed mids and clear highs. If you tire of playing online shooters and decide to listen to music or watch a movie with headphones, you won’t be disappointed.

When connected via a 2.4 GHz radio channel, the MCHOSE X9 has a latency of just 15 ms, comparable to a wired connection. This means the audio will accurately match what’s happening on-screen, allowing players to react quickly to events. While Bluetooth latency is higher, the manufacturer claims a connection range of nearly 40 meters—which isn’t far off the mark. You can play music on your computer, put on headphones, and do household chores without worrying about stuttering or disconnects.

The microphone with AI noise reduction captures your voice very well, filtering out unnecessary sounds. The LED indicator changes color depending on whether the microphone is on or off. You can activate funny voice effects in the app to entertain your teammates.

The headphones are equipped with a 2000 mAh battery—larger than many wireless headsets, which typically come with 600-800 mAh batteries. This means the device can last approximately 130 hours when connected via wireless and up to 200 hours when connected via Bluetooth. Built-in NTC thermal protection technology prevents the battery from heating up while charging, allowing you to charge and play music simultaneously.

Conclusion

The MCHOSE X9 is a robust gaming headset with powerful sound, excellent battery life, a comfortable fit, and extensive customization options.

It’s worth noting that this model is marketed as a solution for online shooters, so it’s especially worth considering for those who regularly play such titles. For them, the device will provide good sound positioning and a range of presets for various games.

The headphones’ advantages include high-quality housing materials and soft eco-leather ear pads, which can be replaced with fabric ones, which are included in the package.

As for drawbacks, we couldn’t find any significant flaws. The only exception was the outer earcups, which were prone to fingerprints. Otherwise, the MCHOSE X9 remains excellent, earning us our Editor’s Choice award.

Pros
  • Nice design
  • Comfortable fit
  • Flexible customization
  • High-quality sound
  • Excellent autonomy
  • Not a bad microphone
Cons
  • The case is easily covered with fingerprints
  • The Russification of the application is far from ideal.
