How to increase core capacity in StarRupture

One of the first tasks in StarRupture is constructing a base core. This structure protects other buildings from Arcadia-7’s heatwaves and serves as the core of the entire base. However, as you add more buildings, you’ll need to increase the capacity of the base core to prevent it from overheating and completely destroying the base during a heatwave. In this guide, we’ll explain how to do this and what to be prepared for.

How to increase the capacity of the base core

To increase the core’s capacity, approach the structure itself and press E to interact. A screen will open where you can select a core upgrade and see the required resources. For example, to upgrade to level 2, you’ll need:

• 30 Meteorite Hearts
• 7,200 Helium
• 1,800 Ceramics
• 10 Ignitia

These volumes are significant, and Helium and Ceramics cannot be produced at the very beginning of the game. Therefore, to effectively gather resources, it’s worth establishing several bases throughout Arcadia-7.

An alternative option is to use Core Boosters to slightly increase capacity. Core Boosters version 1 and 2 are unlocked at Moon Energy Corporation at levels 6 and 9, respectively.

The booster increases the capacity of all cores within its range, which can allow you to add one or two more buildings to each base if you’re close to the limit.

Why is it necessary to increase the core capacity?

Increasing the base’s capacity allows it to withstand more heat and dissipate it more quickly after a “Break.” This allows for more structures or “machines” to be deployed within a single base, speeding up corporate mission completion and post-disaster recovery.

However, this upgrade also has a downside. Local pests (aliens) will begin to regularly attack your base. Therefore, before upgrading the core, it’s worth unlocking the turret blueprint and strengthening your defenses. Blue pests, exploding inside the base, can infect it, rendering it completely inoperable until cleared. Dealing with this during a massive attack is not easy.
