Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown has joined a large list of modern online projects that have been let down by their server infrastructure.
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is scheduled to be released on September 12, but those who pre-ordered the special edition were able to break into the game a week earlier. Or rather, try to break into the game.
The thing is that the racing project started getting devastating reviews soon after the start of this “paid early access”. At the same time, often the negativity was not even related to the gameplay of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown – the servers simply failed, they crashed and buyers simply could not play the new product.
The authors of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown issued a statement and announced compensation:
“Today, we can finally tell you that the quality of most services has improved significantly since the official early launch. The percentage of players successfully logging into the game has increased from 45% just three hours after launch to 96% eight hours later, and has remained stable since then. If you encountered problems in the first few hours, we encourage you to reconnect and dive back into your Hong Kong Island adventures!
We know that some players are still experiencing occasional connection or login issues, and we are committed to addressing these issues in the coming hours and days. Our current focus is on the racing servers (lobby issues).
Post-Race Error Messages: If you see an error message at the end of a race asking if you want to return to the lobby or go into “free ride”, please wait and do not click “Yes” right away. The game periodically sends requests to the servers, and usually everything will resolve itself within a few minutes.”
A patch with a fix is being prepared for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, and they also promised to provide in-game compensation to all affected players as soon as these issues are fully resolved (no specific time frame was given).
