State Bank of Pakistan Director Jobs Apply Now has been announced in Karachi via an online job posting at sbp.org.pk/. The Central Bank of Pakistan, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), is searching for outstanding and energetic applicants for the following jobs in Karachi. The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) was established by the State Bank of Pakistan Act, 1956, which gave the bank the ability to act as the country’s central bank. The SBP Act mandates the Bank to oversee Pakistan’s monetary and credit system and to nurture its expansion in the best national interest, with the goal of ensuring monetary stability and maximizing the country’s productive resources.

Subsidiaries of the SBP

The SBP holds “three” fully owned subsidiaries to augment its functions. These are:

SBP-Banking Services Corporation (SBP-BSC)

Established under the SBP-BSC Ordinance 2001, SBP-BSC supports SBP in performing functions such as handling of currency and credit management, facilitating the inter-bank settlement system, and sale/purchase of savings instruments of the Government on behalf of the Central Directorate of National Savings. SBP-BSC also collects revenue and makes payments for and on behalf of the Government. It also carries out operational work relating to development finance, management of public debt, foreign exchange operations, and export refinance. The Board of Directors of SBP-BSC, chaired by the Governor of SBP, comprises of all members of the Central Board of SBP and the Managing Director of SBP-BSC.

SBP-BSC consists of 16 field offices in Pakistan with the head office in Karachi.

National Banking and Finance Institute (NIBAF)

NIBAF is SBP’s training arm, delivering executive development training to new inductees and workers at all levels. The subsidiary also runs worldwide courses on central and commercial banking in partnership with the Federal Government. Furthermore, NIBAF offers training to SBP-BSC and other financial organizations. The NIBAF is incorporated under the Companies Ordinance of 1984 and has its own Board of Directors.

The headquarters of NIBAF are in Islamabad, with an office in Karachi.

Deposit Insurance Corporation (DPC)

Under the DPC Act 2016, SBP formed the Deposit Protection Corporation (DPC) as a totally owned subsidiary. Upon initiation, this company would be liable to guarantee the protection of deposits of member financial institutions operating in Pakistan. The DPC’s goal is to pay depositors up to the number of protected deposits in the event that a member Financial Institution fails. The maximum amount of safeguarded deposits will be established by DPC and communicated in due course.
A separate Shariah-compliant deposit protection mechanism shall be put in place to protect depositors of Islamic Banks and branches.
