Xbox Series S games will weigh 30% less than Series X games
Xbox Software Director Jason Ronald told IGN that Xbox Series S will have about 30% less game volume than Series X.
This is due to the downsizing of the texture sets – the S version will target them at 1440p, while the X version will target 4K. Nevertheless, the final word will be for the studios themselves.
With a target performance of 1440p / 60fps, we expect the developers to not release high resolution texture packs on the Series S, which will reduce the size of games. One way or another, control is in the hands of the companies themselves.
We’ve had technology for a long time that allows developers to intelligently choose which assets to install on a particular device.
Series X and Series S will go on sale on November 10th. The cost of the younger version is 26,990 rubles, and the older one is 45,590 rubles – pre-orders start on September 22.
